Role Description

As a SOC (Security Operations Center) Analyst Intern at Durowave, you will support the monitoring, detection, and response to cybersecurity threats while collaborating with mentors and team members in a fully remote setting. This internship is designed to provide hands-on learning in security operations, practical exposure to threat analysis, and growth in a supportive, technology-driven environment.

What you will do:

  • Assist in the continuous monitoring of security alerts, logs, and network traffic to identify potential threats or anomalies.
  • Support the investigation of security incidents, document findings thoroughly, and escalate critical issues to senior team members.
  • Help maintain and tune security tools (such as SIEM, firewalls, and endpoint protection) to improve threat detection accuracy.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, vulnerabilities, and threat intelligence to enhance the team's defensive readiness.

Qualifications:

  • Foundational knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, common attack vectors, and incident response procedures.
  • Familiarity with security tools and concepts such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, or endpoint security.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment and document security events clearly.
  • A willingness to learn, strong analytical problem-solving abilities, and keen attention to detail.
  • Bonus: Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash), platforms like TryHackMe/HackTheBox, or relevant beginner certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Cisco CyberOps).
  • Education: Enrollment in or recent completion of a relevant program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or a related field is highly beneficial.
