Software Engineer – Associate / Intern

Job Description

We are looking to add a Software Engineer (Intern or Associate) to our engineering team at ALPHINTRA. This is an on-site position based in Colombo.

If you’ve had enough of toy projects and you want to build backend code that actually ships if you want to work on workflows and automation tools for real clients then this might be the right place for you.

What you’ll work on:

• You’ll partner with our engineers to design, build and ship backend features.
• You’ll put together. Maintain automation scripts and data pipelines.
• You’ll write readable code that can handle production environments.
• You’ll sit in on architecture discussions help whiteboard solutions and review pull requests.
• You’ll track down bugs write tests and help push out releases.
• You’ll dig into latency issues. Help keep our services running smoothly.
• You’ll write clear documentation for the features and tools you build.
• You’ll pick up engineering practices along the way and you’ll be encouraged to share your thoughts on how we can improve.

Who fits this well:

• For interns: CS or SE undergrads who're ready to learn.
• For associates: Recent. Entry-level developers with some personal projects or internship experience under their belt.
• You should be comfortable with the basics—data structures, algorithmic thinking and core computer science concepts.
• You should have some experience with at least one language, like Python, TypeScript or Java—projects count.
• You should be someone who figures things out when stuck isn’t afraid to speak up and enjoys moving
• You need to be based in Colombo or willing to work on-site
