Zeawis Ltd is hiring on behalf of a leading international technology company for an experienced Tech Lead – Backend to lead the development of scalable, enterprise-grade backend systems and AI-powered applications.

Position Details

  • Position: Tech Lead – Backend
  • Location: Sri Lanka / India (Remote / Hybrid)
  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Working Hours: 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM (SL/IST)
  • Salary:USD 1,800 – 2,300 per month (Based on experience and expertise)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable backend services and enterprise applications.
  • Build secure, high-performance RESTful and GraphQL APIs using Python, FastAPI, and Java.
  • Design and implement microservices, distributed systems, and real-time communication solutions using WebSockets.
  • Develop AI-native applications by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, vector databases, and AI agent workflows.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, caching, queueing, monitoring, and asynchronous processing.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Frontend Engineers, DevOps, QA, and AI teams to deliver high-quality software.
  • Review code, mentor backend developers, and establish engineering best practices.
  • Utilize AI-powered development tools for code generation, documentation, testing, debugging, and refactoring while ensuring security, scalability, and maintainability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of professional backend software development experience.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring backend engineering teams.
  • Strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, Java, REST APIs, GraphQL APIs, Microservices, Distributed Systems, and WebSockets.
  • Strong understanding of databases, API security, authentication, authorization, caching, asynchronous processing, and backend architecture.
  • Experience developing enterprise-scale backend applications.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, performance, and maintainability.
  • Experience building AI-powered applications using OpenAI APIs, Anthropic APIs, LangChain, LangGraph, MCP, Embeddings, RAG, and AI Agents will be a strong advantage.
