Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description

As a Senior QA Engineer at Haulmatic, you will own quality for key parts of our platform. You won’t just test features, you’ll define test strategy, drive automation, ensure non-functional quality (API & performance), and mentor the rest of the QA team.

Our environment is fast-paced, demanding, and collaborative. You’ll be expected to take end-to-end ownership and make decisions that directly impact production stability and customer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Engineers to understand requirements, clarify edge cases, and define test scope and strategy.
• Own test planning and approach for features/modules, covering functional, regression, exploratory, API and performance testing where needed.
• Design, write, and maintain high-quality test cases and test suites; execute tests and manage the complete defect life cycle.
• Design, implement, and maintain test automation suites for Web and/or mobile applications.
• Design and execute API tests (manual + automated) for core services and integrations.
• Plan and run performance / load tests for critical flows, analyse results, and work with developers to resolve bottlenecks.
• Use JIRA to track, prioritise, and report defects; work closely with developers to ensure timely fixes and re-testing.
• Create, maintain, and optimise test data and test environments to support different types of testing.
• Apply risk-based testing to focus on the most critical flows, integrations, and edge cases.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in software testing, including Web and/or mobile applications.
• Strong experience with Web application testing and mobile testing (Android and iOS).
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and testing types (functional, regression, smoke, sanity, UAT support, etc.).
• Strong hands-on experience in test automation, including:
  UI automation using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium or similar.
• Ability to design, maintain, and refactor automation suites/frameworks.
• Strong experience in API testing and API automation using tools such as Postman, REST clients, or code-based frameworks (REST/GraphQL).
• Experience with performance/load testing using at least one tool (e.g. JMeter, k6, Gatling or similar), including result analysis and reporting.
• Working knowledge of SQL and databases for backend/data validation.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Proficiency in JIRA (or similar tools) for issue tracking, defect management, and reporting.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with frequent releases and tight timelines.
