Associate Software Engineer (Backend)

We are looking for a Associate Software Engineer who is backend-focused but comfortable working across the full stack when needed. You'll work on building, scaling, and maintaining services that power our products, with strong emphasis on code quality, cloud deployment, and CI/CD practices. This is a great role for someone early in their career who wants to grow into a strong, well rounded backend engineer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js and/or Java
  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code following established coding standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with frontend, product, and QA teams to ship full-stack features end to end
  • Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms (GCP or AWS)
  • Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment
  • Use Git/GitHub for version control, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows
  • Participate in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in a timely manner
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team

Must-Have Skills

  • 2 years of professional experience in backend or full-stack development
  • Working proficiency in more than one backend language - Node.js with TypeScript and Java
  • Solid understanding of REST API design and development
  • Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on GCP or AWS
  • Practical experience with Git/GitHub, including branching strategies and pull request workflows
  • Hands-on experience setting up or maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
  • Demonstrated commitment to code quality: clean code, unit testing, and following style/lint standards

Good to Have

  • Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Basic understanding of frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) for full-stack collaboration
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Exposure to monitoring/logging tools
  • Understanding of basic security practices in application development
