Senior Software Engineer

About this role

Xeynergy is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer on behalf of one of our clients, a leading organization based in Colombo. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and delivering modern, scalable enterprise software solutions using advanced .NET and Angular technologies. This role requires strong full-stack engineering expertise, with the ability to work across backend services, frontend applications, system architecture, and technical problem-solving. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform business requirements into reliable, high-quality software solutions while contributing to engineering best practices and continuous improvement.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable software applications across the full SDLC, including architecture discussions and technical decision-making
  • Drive frontend and backend development using modern frameworks and enterprise-grade tools
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while enforcing best practices — including code reviews, design patterns, SOLID principles, and documentation standards
  • Own the investigation and resolution of complex system issues; lead root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
  • Define and maintain CI/CD pipelines — build, test, and release automation using tools such as Azure DevOps or equivalent
  • Integrate and oversee code quality and security scanning tools (e.g., SonarQube, Snyk, OWASP checks) into the development workflow
  • Collaborate with QA, BA, and cross-functional teams to define requirements, review test strategies, and ensure delivery quality
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers; champion engineering standards across the team
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, cloud trends, and evolving best practices

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent; 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in backend development using Node.js or .NET Core, with hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Solid experience with frontend frameworks — Angular, React, or similar
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL databases (query optimization, indexing, stored procedures, schema design) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cosmos DB, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure — including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Key Vault, Storage, and Messaging
  • Demonstrated experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar) covering build, test, release, and environment promotion stages
  • Familiarity with code scanning and security tooling (SAST/DAST tools, dependency vulnerability scanning) and ability to act on findings
  • Strong grounding in OOP, design patterns, and software engineering best practices
  • Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration basics (Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Experience with Python for backend development or tooling tasks is an advantage
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with AI/ML tooling, LLM integration, or AI-assisted development workflows is a strong added advantage
