Product Engineer - AI & Automation (R&D)

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field

Hard Skills Required

  • Hands-on experience in building or configuring automation workflows (RPA, Al workflow engines, no-code/low-code platforms, or custom scripting)
  • Working knowledge of AI/LLM tools and how to apply them to operational workflows (prompt design, API integration, agent-based. workflows)
  • Strong documentation skills - able to translate technical solutions into clear, commercial, and client-facing materials Familiarity with enterprise SaaS platforms (experience with Cargowise is a strong advantage but not mandatory)
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity- this is exploratory work without a fixed playbook

Work Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in workflow automation, Al/ML-adjacent product development, or process automation roles - ideally with exposure to freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain operations (Preferred, but not mandatory)

Soft Skills Required

  • Self-directed and comfortable owning a problem end-to-end with minimal day-to-day supervision
  • Strong written communication skills - you will be responsible for creating commercial and product materials, not just the build Curious, with a builder mindset rather than an execution-only approach

Responsibilities

  • A dedicated R&D function to build, test, and continuously enhance Al-driven workflow automation tools for our CargoWise client base
  • Own the commercial and product materials for what you build (one-pagers, demos, capability decks)
  • Join client calls occasionally for technical clarification - this is not a sales role
  • The first 6 months are intentionally exploratory; successful R&D work will transition into a productized, commercial offering thereafter
