Senior Engineer – Data Engineering (Tableau & Power BI)

Ucombinator builds software for leading companies across the USA and Europe, and provides engineering talent to Sri Lanka’s top technology firms. Our teams work across a range of business domains including artificial intelligence, supply chain, finance, industrial automation, and e-commerce. We’re expanding our development team and looking for engineers who want to work on systems that operate at real scale.

The Role: 

  • Be the resident expert on Tableau and Power BI, and drive the modernization of enterprise analytics
  • Replace legacy Excel and Cognos reporting with dashboards people actually want to use
  • Fulfil new solution requests where no reporting currently exists, and manage the existing viz library
  • Advise on data governance and data source development as part of a full-stack analytics team
  • Run training sessions and viz demos to lift Tableau and Power BI capability across the business
  • Administer user security and access requests, and liaise with the Tableau and Power BI Server teams
  • Investigate data issues and act as an analytic translator between technical and business teams

Requirement:

  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3–5 years of experience in reporting and analytics development
  • Expert proficiency in Tableau, with strong Power BI capability
  • A portfolio that demonstrates your work (e.g. a Tableau or Power BI Public profile)
  • Expert proficiency writing SQL SELECT statements
  • Very strong technical, analytical, and data visualization skills, with a firm grasp of visualization best practices
  • An independent thinker who can suggest new ways of looking at old problems
  • Able to communicate to any level of the company, in writing and in person
  • Able to coach and train others to use data and analytical tools well
  • A proven track record of productivity while working remotely with minimal supervision
  • Advanced Excel skills and intermediate proficiency across Microsoft Office tools
  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and comfortable with shifting priorities
