Ucombinator builds software for leading companies across the USA and Europe, and provides engineering talent to Sri Lanka’s top technology firms. Our teams work across a range of business domains including artificial intelligence, supply chain, finance, industrial automation, and e-commerce. We’re expanding our development team and looking for engineers who want to work on systems that operate at real scale.

The Role: 

  • Build distributed, high-availability batch and streaming data pipelines on GCP that scale to enterprise demand
  • Implement and maintain low-latency Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines feeding the enterprise data warehouse
  • Build and run automated CI/CD pipelines across development, QA, and production
  • Keep code quality and system stability high by following data engineering standards, security protocols, and operational best practices
  • Practice cloud cost efficiency — right-sizing environments, removing idle infrastructure, and enforcing tagging standards
  • Maintain clear documentation: architecture, release notes, runbooks, and solution designs
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to cut manual toil and sharpen engineering processes
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional Agile/Scrum team delivering data initiatives iteratively

Requirements: 

  • A degree in Computer Science, IT, or an equivalent qualification
  • 1–2 years building enterprise-grade data processing applications
  • Sound knowledge of data engineering practices and processes
  • Solid programming skills in Python, SQL, and Shell/Bash
  • Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using an ingestion platform such as Fivetran, plus orchestration tools
  • Hands-on experience with low-latency CDC pipelines from source relational databases into a data warehouse
  • Hands-on GCP experience — BigQuery, Datastream, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, Cloud Composer
  • Experience with data ingestion from ERP systems such as AS400, SAP, or Dynamics 365
  • DevOps and CI/CD experience with GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Terraform, data quality frameworks, Datadog, Lambda/Kappa patterns, or Medallion Architecture would be an added advantage
