Senior Data Engineer

Ucombinator builds software for leading companies across the USA and Europe, and provides engineering talent to Sri Lanka’s top technology firms. Our teams work across a range of business domains including artificial intelligence, supply chain, finance, industrial automation, and e-commerce. We’re expanding our development team and looking for engineers who want to work on systems that operate at real scale.

The Role:

  • Design and build data solutions for one of the world’s largest food marketing and distribution corporations
  • Implement distributed, highly available data processing applications that scale to enterprise demand
  • Ship continuously through CI/CD pipelines
  • Hold code quality high by following engineering best practices
  • Own your work across the full lifecycle — development, QA, deployment, and post-production support
  • Align your pod on technical vision and the path to implementation
  • Work collaboratively in a cross-functional Agile team

Requirements: 

  • A degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3–5 years developing enterprise-grade data processing applications
  • Strong data ops programming background in Python, Shell, and SQL
  • Experience processing large volumes of data
  • Hands-on with relational/NoSQL databases and distributed storage engines (HDFS, S3, Redshift)
  • ETL design and development experience — Informatica preferred, plus AWS Data Pipeline, Glue, Lambda, EMR, Spark, or Hive
  • Code management and CI/CD experience with GitHub, GitLab, or Jenkins
  • Working experience in a Scrum Agile delivery environment with DevOps practices
  • Strong, influential communication skills
  • Streaming experience (Kinesis, Kafka, Storm, Spark) would be an added advantage
  • API and UI development experience (Node.js, AngularJS, HTML) would be an added advantage
