Founding CTO / Head of Engineering

We’re looking for a Founding CTO / Head of Engineering to join us at the early stage of building a new technology platform in Sri Lanka.

This is not a typical software development role. You’ll be responsible for helping shape the technical foundation, architecture and engineering team from the beginning.

What you’ll be working on

  • Lead the overall technical architecture and development strategy
  • Design and oversee the backend and API architecture
  • Work with real-time systems, location tracking and dispatch
  • Oversee mobile application development for iOS and Android
  • Handle integrations such as payment gateways, maps, notifications and other third-party services
  • Establish development standards, security practices and deployment processes
  • Work closely with the product/design side to turn ideas into practical technical solutions
  • Help recruit and build the initial engineering team
  • Review code and technical decisions
  • Take ownership of the technical direction as the platform develops

What we’re looking for

  • Strong experience in software engineering and system architecture
  • Experience building and launching production applications
  • Strong backend/API knowledge
  • Experience with databases and cloud infrastructure
  • Understanding of mobile application development
  • Experience with real-time systems, APIs and third-party integrations is highly valuable
  • Strong problem-solving and technical decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership
  • Comfortable working in an early-stage startup environment where responsibilities can overlap

You do not need to know every technology yourself. What matters most is that you can understand the complete system, make good technical decisions, and lead the engineering team to build it properly.

Role Details

Position: Founding CTO / Head of Engineering
Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka
Work Model: On-site
Contract: 4 months initially
Extension: Possibility of extending in the future based on progress and mutual fit

Note: This is an early-stage opportunity. We are looking for someone who wants to be involved in building the technical foundation from the ground up, rather than simply working on assigned tickets.
