Job Description
Jira Administrator (On-Premise & Cloud Migration Specialist)
The Jira Administrator manages, configures, and maintains Atlassian products (Jira Software and Jira Service Management) to support and streamline the bank's organizational workflows. Serving as the vital bridge between technical execution and project management, you will be responsible for stabilizing and maintaining our current on-premise Jira environment while acting as the technical lead for our upcoming enterprise-wide migration to Jira Cloud. This role requires advanced proficiency in JQL, system troubleshooting, process optimization, and a strict adherence to financial security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Configuration: Create and manage complex projects, custom fields, workflows, dashboards, and screen schemes tailored to the bank's software development and operational lifecycles.
- SDLC Optimization & Rapid Development: Manage the commercial bank's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) optimization by facilitating quick developments and leveraging available Atlassian tools, native features, and built-in automation to accelerate project delivery and time-to-market.
- On-Premise Maintenance & Cloud Migration Execution: Monitor system health, perform routine upgrades, and troubleshoot issues in the existing Jira Data Center/On-Premise architecture. Plan, test, and safely execute the strategic migration to Jira Cloud, ensuring data integrity and minimal business disruption.
- User & Security Management: Administer users, groups, and permissions schemes. Ensure all access controls strictly align with the bank's security compliance frameworks, audit requirements, and data governance policies.
- Workflow Optimization: Analyze existing team processes across various banking departments to develop and implement tailored, efficient workflows that eliminate bottlenecks.
- Integrations & Apps: Manage, install, and configure Atlassian add-ons, plugins, and third-party integrations. Audit existing plugins for cloud compatibility and ensure all integrations meet enterprise security standards.
- Documentation & Training: Create comprehensive training materials and documentation for standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices. Provide user support and conduct training sessions to help teams seamlessly transition to the new Jira Cloud interface.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of dedicated experience as a Jira Administrator, with expertise in configuring complex projects, workflows, and permission schemes. Must have hands-on experience managing on-premise/Data Center environments, and prior experience or active participation in a Jira Cloud migration is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of JQL (Jira Query Language), automation rules, and comprehensive Atlassian tool administration. Familiarity with migration tools such as the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills with the proven ability to train users, manage stakeholder expectations, and work collaboratively with diverse technical and non-technical teams.
- Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (preferred). Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM frameworks and banking sector compliance is a strong plus.
