SQL Server Database Administrator

Job Description

What You'll Do

• Keep the platform healthy. Monitor and support Microsoft SQL Server environments, covering availability, performance, storage, backups, SQL Agent jobs, telemetry collection and overall platform health.
• Troubleshoot and tune. Diagnose T-SQL issues, tune queries, manage indexes and statistics, and perform routine maintenance.
• Protect the data. Run and validate backups, perform test and production restores, and support recovery activities in line with business continuity requirements.
• Own the alerts. Monitor, triage, classify and investigate alerts using Azure Log Analytics, Application Insights and other operational tools.
• Run operations with discipline. Follow approved runbooks, maintain accurate incident tickets, communicate status clearly, deliver complete shift handoffs, and escalate critical or unresolved issues promptly.

What You Bring

• 2-3 years' experience supporting SQL Server or similar relational database systems
• Working knowledge of SQL Server administration, T-SQL, monitoring, backup and recovery, and performance analysis
• Experience with runbook-driven operations, incident documentation, first-level troubleshooting and structured escalation
• A methodical approach, attention to detail and calm under pressure
• Clear written and verbal communication, especially in handoffs and incident updates

Nice to Have

• Experience in banking, finance companies or other regulated financial services
• Familiarity with CBSL regulatory expectations around data integrity, availability and audit trails
• Exposure to Azure SQL, Azure Monitor/KQL, or PowerShell automation
• ITIL Foundation or a Microsoft certification (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate)
