Software Development Intern – Application Support

Job Description

Procons Infotech (Pvt) Ltd. is a leading web and software development company in Sri Lanka, with over 22 years of experience in delivering a wide range of web-based and software application projects. We are seeking a talented, motivated, and target-oriented individual to join our Digital Solutions Department as a Software Development Intern Application Support.

Role Overview & Responsibilities

  • Investigate, reproduce, and help resolve application defects reported by customers.
  • Analyze logs, stack traces, error reports, and system behavior to assist in identifying root causes.
  • Resolve issues or escalate complex or systemic problems with clear technical context, hypotheses, and supporting evidence.
  • Work within existing application architectures, including legacy frameworks or languages, while creating technical process documentation.
  • Support release and operational activities, such as unit testing, integration testing, smoke testing, and deployment readiness checks.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to real-world production systems across the full software lifecycle, from incident detection through deployment.
  • Develop practical troubleshooting skills on existing applications and communicate problems and solutions in clear, simple terms.

Required Tech Stack

  • Operating Systems: Windows, Linux
  • PHP Frameworks: Codeigniter, Laravel
  • Testing: Unit Testing, Integration Testing
  • APIs & Integration: RESTful APIs, JSON/ AJAX
  • Version Control: Git (GitHub / GitLab / Bitbucket)
  • Databases: MySQL (phpMyAdmin, MySQL Workbench), SQLite
  • Frontend Technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap
  • Content Management Systems: WordPress, Moodle, Joomla (will provide training)

Educational Requirement

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed National Diploma, Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor's Degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or an equivalent discipline from a recognized institute or university in Sri Lanka or overseas.
