About this role

Xeynergy is a Software Development and IT Services company based in Sri Lanka and the USA which provides software development services to reputed offshore companies based in the US and Europe. Formed by an experienced group of professionals in the industry, Xeynergy is building a network of highly skilled professionals who can perform shoulder to shoulder with the top international talent. We are on the lookout for an Intern Software Engineer (Software Development & Gen AI) to join the team.

What you will be doing

  • Assisting the development team in designing, developing, and maintaining software applications covering all the activities of the SDLC
  • Involving in frontend & backend development tasks using modern tools & technologies
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code under the guidance of senior developers
  • Contributing to Gen AI initiatives: building proof-of-concepts and prototypes with LLMs (e.g. RAG pipelines, AI agents, automation tools) and helping integrate
  • AI capabilities into new and existing systems
  • Participating in R&D experiments — evaluating AI tools, models, and approaches, and implementing the successful ones
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams including QA, BA engineers
  • Staying up to date with new technologies and development trends and standards, including the fast-moving Gen AI landscape

What are we looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent qualification (final-year student or fresh graduate)
  • Understanding of backend development using Node, .NET Core, Python
  • Knowledge of frontend technologies such as Angular, React or any other scripting framework
  • Familiarity with programming concepts such as OOP, APIs, and databases (SQL & No-SQL)
  • Hands-on exposure to Gen AI tools and models (e.g. OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or open-source models) through projects, coursework, or personal experimentation
  • Familiarity with LLM concepts such as prompting, embeddings, RAG, or agents is an added advantage; knowledge of model fine-tuning work is an added advantage
  • Any exposure to Python, AI frameworks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel), or AI/ML infrastructure would be an added advantage
  • An R&D mindset — comfortable experimenting, prototyping, and learning from what does not work
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn, ability to work both independently and as part of a team
