  • Lead database deployment support, including release planning, SQL script execution, schema changes, object creation, validation, and rollback readiness.
  • Develop and maintain data archiving strategies, archive database environments, retention controls, and archive restore procedures.
  • Perform advanced performance tuning using execution-plan analysis, wait statistics, query optimisation, indexing, statistics, memory, CPU, I/O, and concurrency analysis.
  • Design, manage, and support High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, replication technologies, failover activities, and DR testing.
  • Oversee SQL Server Agent jobs, maintenance plans, integrity checks, backup verification, housekeeping activities, and daily operational monitoring.
  • Conduct database health assessments, capacity planning, storage forecasting, risk reviews, and lifecycle recommendations.
  • Lead and support data replication to SERA and related enterprise integrations.
  • Coordinate complex troubleshooting with Data Centre, IFS, Network, Firewall, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Integration teams.
  • Drive Business Continuity Management governance, disaster recovery documentation, risk assessments, testing, evidence collection, and remediation follow-up.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity controls, audit requirements, operational standards, change governance, and database security best practices.
  • Mentor engineers, define database operational standards, review technical work, and promote knowledge sharing across the Managed Services team.
  • Participate in shift-based operations, major incidents, planned maintenance, on-call support, and out-of-hours activities required for 24×7 services.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of enterprise Microsoft SQL Server administration experience, including responsibility for production and highly available systems.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL Server administration, performance monitoring, query optimisation, execution plans, indexing, wait statistics, blocking, deadlocks, and capacity management.
  • Advanced experience with backup and recovery, database integrity, replication, transaction log management, storage optimisation, and recovery validation.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups, Windows Server Failover Clustering, log shipping, replication, and Disaster Recovery technologies.
  • Proven experience leading SQL Server patching, cumulative updates, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, upgrades, and lifecycle-management activities.
  • Advanced T-SQL skills and strong PowerShell scripting experience for database administration, monitoring, automation, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, storage, networking, authentication, service accounts, and infrastructure dependencies.
  • Experience working within ITIL-aligned Managed Services operations, including major incidents, problem management, change governance, risk management, and service improvement.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, analytical, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to lead technical discussions and communicate risk and recommendations clearly.
  • A relevant Microsoft database certification is mandatory, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), or an equivalent recognised Microsoft SQL Server database administration certification.

Nice To Have

  • Significant experience supporting IFS Field Service Management (IFS FSM), IFS Cloud, IFS Applications, or another mission-critical ERP platform.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure, Azure SQL services, hybrid database architectures, or cloud migration projects.
  • Experience designing monitoring and observability solutions using Grafana, Prometheus, native SQL tooling, or comparable platforms.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity audits, vulnerability remediation programmes, BCM governance, and formal DR exercises.
  • Additional Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, architecture, ITIL, or service-management certifications.
