Android Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join our Software Engineering team.

Contract Type: 1-Year Contract
Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka

You’ll be responsible for developing and enhancing native Android applications and services for enterprise mobile devices, working in an Agile environment and integrating capabilities such as barcode scanning, RFID, and NFC.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin, Java, and MVVM/MVI
• Develop responsive UIs using XML and Jetpack Compose
• Integrate REST APIs, Room/SQLite databases, and hardware peripherals
• Work with Zebra/Android SDKs for device and hardware integration
• Troubleshoot crashes, memory leaks, and performance issues
• Write unit and UI tests using JUnit, MockK, and Espresso
• Participate in code reviews and CI/CD processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
• 2–5 years of hands-on native Android development experience
• Proficiency in Kotlin and knowledge of Java
• Experience with Coroutines, Flow, LiveData, ViewModel, Room, Retrofit, and Dagger/Hilt
• Familiarity with Android Studio, Git, Gradle, and ADB
• Strong understanding of OOP, data structures, multithreading, and REST APIs

Nice to Have

• Android Enterprise API experience
• Experience with Bluetooth, NFC, or barcode scanning
• Production experience with Jetpack Compose
• Familiarity with automated mobile CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins
