Lead Data / MDM Architect

Job Description

Role Overview

Own the end-to-end data and MDM architecture and provide technical design authority across the program. The role connects source systems, Lakehouse/data engineering, MDM, integration, governance, security and downstream consumption into a coherent, supportable architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the target data/MDM architecture, architecture principles and decision records.
  • Own the canonical master-data model, global identifier strategy and source- system cross-reference approach.
  • Define the boundary between pre-MDM standardization/data-quality processing and MDM mastering capabilities.
  • Lead architecture for ADLS Gen2, Azure Databricks/Spark, Profisee MDM, Microsoft Purview and integration services.
  • Define coexistence/consolidation patterns, controlled source-system write- back and downstream consumption.
  • Guide matching, survivorship, attribute authority, stewardship and Golden
  • Record design with business/governance leads.
  • Review source-system integration patterns including REST APIs, CDC, files and event-driven integration.
  • Ensure security, privacy, lineage, auditability and regional/data-residency requirements are designed in.
  • Chair or lead technical Design Authority and maintain the architecture decision backlog.
  • Participate in Steering committee forums for strategic decisions.
  • Mentor engineers and ensure architecture is implementable rather than conceptual only.

Must-Have Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years in enterprise data engineering/architecture with significant solution architecture responsibility.
  • Strong Azure data-platform architecture experience.
  • Strong Databricks/Spark, Delta Lake/lakehouse and ADLS Gen2 understanding.
  • Practical MDM knowledge: canonical models, entity resolution, Golden Records, survivorship, source authority, stewardship and global IDs.
  • Strong API/integration architecture and distributed-system design.
  • Ability to work with security, privacy, governance and multi-region constraints.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and architecture documentation.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Hands-on Profisee experience or another enterprise MDM platform.
  • Microsoft Purview/data catalog / lineage experience.
  • Experience with large global Customer/Supplier/Organisation master-data programmes.
  • Azure architecture certification and/or Databricks certification.
