About Netwitx

Netwitx is a technology and digital product company focused on developing modern web platforms, mobile applications and digital products.

Our work covers frontend and backend engineering, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, testing, automation and ongoing product development.

One of our primary projects is AusLanka, a growing digital platform built for the Sri Lankan community in Australia.

AusLanka brings together services including events and ticketing, business discovery, marketplace listings, community information and other digital services through an expanding web and mobile ecosystem.

As a small and hands-on development team, Netwitx provides an environment where developers can gain exposure to different areas of real-world software engineering rather than being limited to one small part of a system.

About the Internship

Netwitx is looking for two Full Stack Software Engineering Interns based in Sri Lanka to join our development team and contribute to the continued development of the AusLanka platform.

This is a fully remote position, and applicants must currently reside in Sri Lanka and be available to work remotely from Sri Lanka for the duration of the internship.

We are not looking for someone simply because they have a degree or qualification.

We are looking for people who genuinely enjoy software development, are enthusiastic about technology, like solving problems and are willing to continuously learn.

You do not need to know every technology we use.

What matters more is that you have strong development fundamentals, can demonstrate that you have actually built things and are willing to learn technologies you have not worked with before.

You will gain practical exposure to the development and maintenance of a real-world digital platform and work alongside the Netwitx development team.

What You May Work On

Depending on your skills and experience, your work may include:

  • Building and improving frontend features using React, Next.js and TypeScript
  • Developing reusable and responsive UI components
  • Building and integrating backend APIs
  • Working with authentication and authorisation systems
  • Working with databases and data modelling
  • Connecting frontend applications with backend services
  • Debugging and resolving application issues
  • Improving application reliability and performance
  • Writing and maintaining tests
  • Working with Git and GitHub
  • Participating in pull requests and code reviews
  • Working across development, staging and production environments
  • Learning and working with CI/CD pipelines
  • Assisting with cloud infrastructure and deployments
  • Writing technical documentation
  • Participating in technical and product discussions
  • Contributing ideas for improving the AusLanka platform
  • Depending on your interests and progress, you may also gain exposure to mobile application development and other parts of the AusLanka ecosystem.

Strong React and TypeScript fundamentals, combined with a good understanding of backend development concepts, are more important.

  • Have experience with at least one backend technology
  • Understand APIs and client-server architecture
  • Have a basic understanding of databases

  • Have some understanding of deployment or CI/CD concepts
  • Can independently investigate technical problems
  • Are willing to ask questions when you do not understand something
  • Can receive and apply feedback from code reviews
  • Communicate clearly with other team members
  • Are reliable and responsible with assigned work
  • Enjoy learning new technologies
  • Are genuinely enthusiastic about software engineering
  • Are currently residing in Sri Lanka and able to work remotely
  • Most importantly, we want people who actually enjoy building software.
  • A degree alone will not determine whether you are the right candidate.
  • Personal projects, GitHub repositories, open-source contributions, experiments and software you have built yourself can be just as valuable as academic qualifications.

You Do Not Need To

  • Know our entire technology stack
  • Have previous professional industry experience
  • Be an expert developer
  • Have perfect academic results

We understand that interns are still learning.

What we expect is curiosity, commitment, good engineering fundamentals, reliability and a genuine willingness to improve.

Internship Structure

This is a six-month, full-time remote internship.

The position is available exclusively to candidates who will be based in Sri Lanka throughout the internship.

During the internship, you can expect:

  • Practical experience working with a real software platform
  • Technical guidance from the Netwitx team
  • Code reviews and development feedback
  • Exposure to real development workflows
  • Experience across frontend and backend systems
  • Exposure to deployment and cloud infrastructure
  • Opportunities to improve engineering and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working collaboratively within a development team
  • Internship completion documentation following satisfactory completion

Opportunity After the Internship

Interns who demonstrate strong performance during the six-month internship may be considered for a separate paid contract of up to one year with Netwitx.

Consideration for a paid position will be based on factors including:

  • Quality of contributions
  • Reliability
  • Communication
  • Ability to work independently
  • Team collaboration

Available positions and business requirements

A future paid contract is a potential progression opportunity and is not guaranteed as part of the internship.
