Our client is a product engineering company in Colombo that builds enterprise software used by international brands. Its domains include travel, e-commerce and financial services, and its engineering teams work closely with global customers.

About the role

A senior individual-contributor role with a path to tech lead.

What you'll do

  • Design and build backend services and REST APIs in Java and Spring Boot on a microservices architecture
  • Build responsive, secure front-ends in React or Angular
  • Own features end to end, from design through production deployment
  • Uphold quality with unit and integration tests, code reviews, secure coding and performance tuning
  • Act as subject-matter expert across product modules; mentor junior engineers
  • Work in Agile/Scrum teams with global clients and use AI coding assistants to move faster

What you need

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering, with strong Java and Spring/Spring Boot
  • Production experience with React or Angular
  • REST API design, microservices and distributed-systems fundamentals
  • Relational and/or NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Git, CI/CD and Agile practices; clean, testable code and design patterns
  • Strong English for working with global teams; degree in CS/SE or equivalent

Nice to have

  • Docker and Kubernetes; AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • OpenAPI/Swagger, OWASP and secure-coding experience
  • Banking/fintech (BIAN) or travel-tech domain knowledge
  • Tech-lead or team-lead experience
