Tech Lead - Data Engineering

We are seeking a Tech Lead - Data Engineering to build and strengthen the robust data foundation required for our Al and Customer Data Platform (CDP) initiatives. This role will be responsible for designing scalable data pipelines, ensuring high data quality and governance standards, and enabling seamless collaboration between internal analytics teams and external technology vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee scalable, production-ready ETL/ELT pipelines from Core Banking, and other enterprise systems to support Al models and the Customer Data Platform (CDP).
  • Champion the use of data virtualization to decouple source systems from consumption layers, minimizing unnecessary data replication while efficiently serving downstream applications.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and conduct code reviews for Data Engineers and Associates.
  • Implement automated Data Quality (DQ) checks and ensure strong data governance practices, along with best practices in testing, version control, and CI/CD for data pipelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering.
  • Prior experience in roles such as Tech Lead - Data Engineering, Senior Data Engineer, or a similar technical leadership role.
  • Experience within the financial services or banking domain will be an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Data Engineering : Spark, Kafka, SQL, BigQuery, Snowflake
  • Data Virtualization : Denodo or similar virtualization tools.
  • Programming : Python, Scala, Java
  • Cloud Platforms : GCP
  • DevOps/Infra : Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Airflow

Soft Skills & Leadership

  • Ability to adapt to the organizational culture and IT environment.
  • Strong analytical thinking with excellent attention to detail, particularly in data lineage, governance, and quality management.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
