AI/ML Engineer Intern - Computer Vision

Job Description

At SimpliFy Labs (LK), you'll work on computer vision research and collaborate with our software engineering team to turn promising research outcomes into real-world products.

If you're passionate about machine learning, enjoy experimenting with new ideas, and want hands-on experience taking ML from research to deployment, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll do

• Research & Experimentation: Explore and experiment with state-of-the-art computer vision models and techniques.
• Model Development: Design, train, evaluate, and improve deep learning models using PyTorch.
• System Integration: Collaborate with software engineers to integrate ML models into real-world products.
• Applied ML Development: Work with the ML team across both research and product-focused development.
• Research Exploration: Stay current with relevant research and translate promising ideas into practical experiments.
• Documentation: Clearly document experiments, results, technical decisions, and findings.

What we're looking for

• Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/course in Machine Learning, AI, Computer Science, or a related field. Students and recent graduates in Sri Lanka are welcome to apply.
• Programming: Strong Python fundamentals and the ability to reason through, implement, and debug solutions independently.
• PyTorch: Hands-on experience building and training models with PyTorch.
• Research Mindset: Genuine curiosity about understanding, experimenting with, and improving ML methods, not simply applying existing models.
• Computer Vision: Familiarity with fundamental computer vision and deep learning concepts.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and willingness to learn.

Nice to have

• ML or computer vision projects, research experience, or publications.
• Experience with OpenCV, image processing, or related libraries.
• Familiarity with model deployment, inference optimization, or MLOps fundamentals.
• GitHub projects demonstrating practical ML experience.

Internship details

• Location: 100% Remote - Sri Lanka
• Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Duration: 6 months
