Onsys International (Private) Limited is expanding its engineering team in Colombo and is looking for passionate database professionals to join our growing technology team.

Onsys Technologies is an Australian IT services company providing IT infrastructure, cloud, database, and digital transformation services to customers across multiple industries. Through our regional hub in Sri Lanka, we deliver enterprise-grade technology solutions, managed database services, and 24x7 support to clients.

We are currently hiring for the following positions:

1. Database Engineers

Specialization: Oracle / PostgreSQL / SQL Server / MySQL

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage 24x7 production database systems
  • Ensure system uptime, availability, and performance
  • Respond to alerts, incidents, and system notifications
  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database systems
  • Design and implement database solutions in data centre and cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues
  • Design and support highly available database solutions
  • Automate database and operational tasks using scripts
  • Perform database development and support database objects
  • Participate in on-call support rosters
  • Support client database environments as part of a 24x7 managed services team
  • Maintain technical documentation and update support systems

Required Skills and Experience

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MySQL
  • Experience in database installation, configuration, upgrade, and patching
  • Strong SQL skills, including T-SQL or PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of backup, recovery, and data migration techniques
  • Understanding of transaction processing, concurrency, data modelling, and normalization
  • Working experience with Windows and Linux platforms
  • Experience in troubleshooting production database issues
  • Good documentation and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and customer support skills
  • Ability to work in a small, fast-moving technical team
  • Can-do attitude with attention to detail and urgency in incident resolution
