The Role:
We are seeking a highly capable and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to oversee a team of Quality Assurance Engineers in our offshore office. This role combines hands-on QA responsibilities with leadership and coordination duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software testing including automation, proven experience leading QA teams, and the technical acumen to monitor and support software development activities. As the senior contact in the offshore office, this person will also ensure smooth communication and alignment with onshore teams.

What you will do:
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 6 QA engineers. Providing guidance and support in both manual and automated testing efforts.
- Oversee the sprint commitments for both the QA Engineers and Developers in the Colombo Office and assist removing any blockers.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Continuously improve QA processes and methodologies.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
Quality Assurance Expertise
- Develop and implement QA strategies and processes, including automation to enhance product quality and testing efficiency.
- Conduct hands-on testing, including functional, regression, and performance testing, while integrating automation tools and frameworks.
- Design and implement test cases (manual and automated) for new and existing features.
- Ensure thorough test coverage and adherence to quality standards.
- Identify, document, and track defects using appropriate tools, ensuring a robust defect management process.
QA Escalation & Oversight
- Serve as the primary escalation point for all QA-related issues.
- Troubleshoot complex testing problems and guide the team in resolving blockers.
- Define and enforce QA best practices, test strategies, and automation frameworks.
- Development Monitoring & Support
- Monitor development progress and ensure alignment with quality and delivery goals.
- Participate in sprint planning, and technical discussions as needed.
Project Coordination
- Work closely with onshore product and engineering teams to align priorities.
- Coordinate sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Track and report on team progress, risks, and blockers.
- Ensure regression testing is planned and documented for each version.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the senior point of contact in the offshore office.
- Ensure clear and consistent communication between offshore and onshore teams.
- Represent the offshore team (QA and Developers) in leadership meetings and planning sessions for both.
What you need to be successful:
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Experience working in a distributed or offshore team environment.
- Proven experience in hands-on testing (manual and/or automated).
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and product managers.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Technical proficiency to understand and monitor development work (e.g. CI/CD pipelines, architecture discussions).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience with Low-Code / No-Code automated testing solutions.
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git, Jenkins, Selenium, or similar.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and modern development stacks.
- ISTQB or similar QA certification is a plus.
