Jaffna Students meet the IT/ BPO industry

SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies) organized a two day industrial visit for the Computer Science undergraduate students from the University of Jaffna. SLASSCOM facilitated this industry awareness visit for the second consecutive year as part of their capacity building initiative to bring Jaffna students to mainstream IT/ BPO industry. The students visited IFS, Virtusa, Euro Center, eCollege, Cinergix Research and Sabre Technologies on the 17th and 18th October 2011 during their stay in Colombo.

The APIIT Team comprising of C.M.Tharanga Nuwan Chandrasekara, R.M.Isuru Uthpala Bandara Ranasinghe, Dushmantha Ranathunga, Samith Disal Sandanayake, P.G.G.T.C. Deshapriya, W.P.C.T Pulasthi, Chamath Silva emerged Runners- up at the Motorola Inter- University Enterprise Mobility Software Development Competition 2011 held recently. Organised by Motorola Solutions in collaboration with SLASSCOM for the second consecutive year, 16 Undergraduate teams from 12 universities from around the country took part in the completion to showcase their innovative applications in mobile software.

IT-BPO sector 'significant' employment generator upto 2015

EDEX Expo 2012 returns for ninth outing: Over 250 institutions from 20 countries to participate

Sri Lanka's premier higher education and careers expo is back for the ninth consecutive year, and its largest showing ever. Edex Expo 2012, once again organized by the Royal College Union, will be the largest showcase of higher education, vocational training and skills development options to date, with the greatest participation of foreign and local education providers. The event will be held on January 20, 21 and 22, 2012 in Colombo and will be held in Kandy on January 27 and 28, 2012.
