Dialog Group recorded strong growth in revenue during the first quarter to register Rs 12.9 billion, a significant increase of 8% relative to Q4 2011 and 18% relative to Q1 2011 ended 31st March 2012.

The Board and Management of Dialog Axiata PLC announced the appointment of Jeremy Huxtable to the position of Group Chief Officer – Enterprise Business with effect from 19th April, 2012.

The recent acquisition of Suntel by locally dominant mobile operator Dialog has already resulted in what could arguably be considered Sri Lanka's most powerful telcom group despite legal formalities having yet to be concluded.

Dialog which made the single largest consolidation initiative within Sri Lanka's telecommunications sector when it bought Suntel a few months ago, is mulling rebranding the fixed line operator this year, according to officials.

Dialog Axiata Plc yesterday said that it has concluded the acquisition of Suntel Ltd and has reconstituted the Board of Directors. The acquisition of 100% stake in Suntel Ltd., was via Dialog Axiata’s fully owned subsidiary Dialog Broadband Networks Ltd.

Dialog Axiata PLC is partnering with Med1, an American managed emergency medical response service provider operating in Sri Lanka to offer access to emergency health advice to Dialog subscribers via 'The First Aid Helpline.'

Dialog Enterprise, the corporate solutions arm of Dialog Axiata PLC successfully commissioned an integrated communication solution to enable Road Development Authority (RDA) to start operations of Sri Lanka’s first expressway with a very high note.

Dialog Axiata PLC recorded strong revenue growth across all segments to reach Rs 11.9 billion for the fourth quarter, a QoQ growth of 3%. Group revenue grew 10% YoY to be recorded at Rs 45.6 billion for FY 2011.

Sri Lanka’s telecommunication sector received a record US $ 69 million investment last year. The industry received this boost from five leading operators, Sri Lanka Telecom, Dialog Axiata, Etisalat, Bharathi Airtel and Mobitel. The biggest investment to the sector was made by Bharti Airtel Lanka, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, one of the world’s largest telecom service providers, which was the fifth player in the local mobile market. The company invested US $ 49.9 last year.

Sri Lanka's largest mobile service provider Dialog Axiata PLC is offering Technology scholarships to 54 students, who scored top marks in the field of mathematics at the (General Certificate of Education) A/L (Advance Level) examinations held in 2009 and 2010.

Dialog Broadband Networks Private Limited (DBN), a fully owned subsidiary of Sri Lanka’s premier mobile services provider Dialog Axiata PLC yesterday entered in to a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) to acquire 100 percent of the ordinary shares of wireless fixed line operator Suntel Ltd from its current shareholders.

Dialog Axiata PLC announced yesterday the secondment of its Group Chief Marketing Officer Nushad Perera to take up a regional role at the Head Quarters of the Axiata Group Berhad in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Perera’s new role will be in the capacity of a Senior Vice President within the Group Strategy function of the Axiata Group, and will commence in January 2012.
